REFUGEE LAW RESEARCH

The uOttawa Refugee Law Research Team (RLRT), founded and led by professor Jennifer Bond, is an expert team of current and former Refugee Hub volunteer team members and contributors which provides legal research, analysis, opinion, and strategic support to various high-level domestic and international refugee initiatives.

The RLRT has supported briefings for prominent refugee organizations including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Refugee and Asylum Program at the University of Michigan, and the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL). It has also provided valuable research to legal-aid counsel working on complex cases before the Immigration and Refugee Board. The RLRT has made significant contributions to CARL’s Supreme Court interventions in the recent ground-breaking cases Ezokola v Canada,  Febles v Canada, and JP et al v Canada (MPSEP).
